Support Small Businesses: Introducing The Bites of Boston Self-Care Box & Mini Boxes

Here at Bites of Boston Food Tours our mission is to support other small, local businesses just like ourself, and in fact our entire business model runs on that mutual support. Covid-19 has had a HUGE impact on us and all of the small, local businesses that we work with to run our food tours. As things have progressed we could not just sit back and watch so many small, local, Boston businesses continue to suffer and we wanted to do something to help.

Thus, the Bites of Boston Self-Care Box was born!

Created during quarantine as a way to support our fellow Boston Lady Bosses, Self-Care is our first ever collection of Bites of Boston Boxes!

Born out of the realization that everyone could benefit from a little self care, and small local businesses really need our support as we weather this pandemic together, we set out to find a way to deliver both.

These boxes includes a carefully curated selection of items tailored to provide some peace, comfort and relaxation, while also providing a creative way to support local Boston businesses...and you don't even have to put on pants or leave the house. What's not to love?

The Self-Care Box includes eight thoughtfully chosen items from women-owned, small businesses in Boston to help you nurture yourself during this difficult time. Additionally, a $5 donation to support local Boston restaurants & eateries will be made with the purchase of each Self-Care full-sized or mini box. The box is a great way to treat yourself or to gift to someone who could use a little self-care in their life right now.

In 2015, Kristina created Moroccan Magic Clean Beauty because she believes in taking everyday products and giving them an upgrade. She has spent her career finding and developing magic, sourcing only the highest quality ingredients and formulating high performing clean beauty products that everyone can afford!

Tender As Petals Facial Cleanser + Mask by Thesis Beauty Founded by Julia Teren

Julia is the founder of Thesis, an award-winning, truly organic beauty brand based in Somerville, MA. She is passionate about educating people on all things organic, vegan, and eco-friendly for healthier, more conscious living. She believes in the power of self-care as a way to tune into life on a happier note. Julia resides in Somerville with her husband, son, and 2 adopted cats.

Stay Om Candle by Cannon Candles Founded by Madison Cannon

Coming from Connecticut, Madison began candle making just for fun and to get a little creative. She develops educational leadership initiatives in higher education in Boston and has turned an after-work hobby into a side hustle. When she's not working her 9-to-5 or making candles from her home in Medford, she's baking for Deep Cuts Deli & Brewery in Somerville.

Lunar Chai by Curio Spice Co. Founded by Claire Cheney

Claire founded Curio Spice Co in 2015 in Cambridge, MA. She is an adventurous, self-taught cook who has traveled throughout the world. Over the last decade she's visited spice farms and communities in over 12 countries sourcing the best spices to bring back to her native New England.

Upcycled Cloth Face Mask by Ash & Rose Founded by Nea Savoca and Mary Savoca

Mother-daughter team Nea and Mary founded Ash & Rose in the SOWA district of the South End in Boston. Nea designs the A&R private label collection, while Mary curates our designer collections and manages the shop. Notably, in April, Ash & Rose's retail space was deemed a total loss after a devastating flood caused by a water main break on Harrison Avenue. Until they can reopen their South End location, Ash & Rose is focused exclusively on the production of protective face masks. We are so thrilled to be able to lend some support to that effort by way of these boxes!

She’s passionate about giving her collectors a meaningful way to celebrate their own happy food moments through paintings and prints. And she loves teaching her students how to capture their own joy by learning to paint with vibrant color.

60 min. Virtual Vinyasa Flow Yoga Class by Rachel DeSimone Yoga Founded by Rachel DeSimone

Rachel received her 200-hr. Yoga Teacher Training from YogaWorks in 2017 and is currently pursuing her 300-hr. Training with Chakra Power Yoga. Her classes are full of fun flows, inviting you to get out of your head and into your body. She facilitates linking breath to movement and helps people find that deeper connection with themselves, going far beyond asana. She also focuses on strength and safe alignment in class, making sure students know where and how they are moving so they can take ownership of their practice. You can count on sweating and smiling in her class!
